John Schade is a Librarian at the Minnesota Genealogical Library and is the former President of the Minnesota Genealogical Society. John is an expert in French Canadian Genealogical Research.
On October 2, 2015, at 6 p.m., he gave a presentation at Dehn’s Country Manor located in an area that was an early French Canadian settlement. Nearby Dayton (just to the North) and Osseo (just to the southeast) were both heavily settled by French Canadians. Nearly all of the pioneers of Dayton spoke French. The Church of St. John the Baptist was established as a French speaking Catholic church in Dayton in the year 1857.The title of John’s presentation was “Beginning Canadian-French Genealogical Research.”
