Arcadia

Mark Labine will talk about the history of Acadia and its existence from 1604-1755. He will
discuss its demise during the French and Indian War, the Acadian deportation of 1755, and
trace his Labine family migration from Acadia in 1755 to Minnesota in 1878.

Mark Labine was born and raised in Argyle, Minnesota, on the farm homesteaded by his French-Canadian great-grandfather
Alfred Labine, who has Acadian roots. His great-grandparents, Albert and Leda Proulx, both lived for a time in Somerset.
Mark is the treasurer and a founding member of the French-American Heritage Foundation.
