Isaac Labissonière

“Battle of Kaposia by Isaac Labissoniere” is a firsthand account written by Isaac Labissoniere — a French-Canadian settler who came to St. Paul from the Selkirk Settlement in the Red River Valley — describing the 1842 battle in which Ojibwe warriors launched a surprise attack on the Dakota village of Kaposia near present-day South St. Paul, Minnesota, which he personally witnessed.
